by Yang Berbahagia Datuk Azah Hanim binti Ahmad, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) | Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM)

    10:00 AM

    10:15 AM
Agri-businesses are highly exposed to external factors such as climate patterns, production yield and market prices, which add to the financing risks of these businesses. This session will delve into these risks from a financier's perspective, and explore the role of alternative financing, data and technology as well as de-risking instruments (e.g., insurance) in enabling agriculture finance.

    Panelists:

    • As agriculture data become more digitalized, how does such data enhance lending and loss mitigation?
    • What data is currently being used to make decisions or risk-based decisions by insurance providers and other sources of funding?
    • To what extend can the implementation of closed greenhouse systems help reduce risk and offset the high investment costs?
    • Are we going to see more tailored risk and insurance products  for agribusinesses as they adopt different types of inputs or equipment?

    11:15 AM

This session provides a first-hand account of the operations, lessons learned, benefits and challenges associated with the adoption of AgTech and FinTech by the Agri sector and how alternative financing helped in the rise of AgTech.
