Crypto Conundrum in Islamic Finance

There have been many differing opinions on the use of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ethereum as a legitimate form of currency and investment in Islam. A look into the early history of currencies as a medium of exchange from an Islamic perspective will set the tone and give much needed context to the discussion. We will dive in to the critical factors and nuances of cryptocurrencies that determine its compliance with Shariah law. Further, the session will discuss the compatibility of DLT and Islamic Finance along with the opportunities and challenges faced in its synergy.
