BACKGROUND

Access to financing has always been a key challenge faced by agri-based businesses. Widening financing options is key to a brighter future for agriculture.

Alternative financing such as equity crowdfunding (ECF) and peer-to peer (P2P) financing can provide more options for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to access financing in support of the nation's food security agenda. One of the initiatives that aim to strengthen the agri-financing ecosystem is GROWMatch.

WHAT

GROWMatch is an SC-led matching platform focused on fostering connections between agri-based MSMEs and potential investors. GROWMatch empowers entrepreneurs to pitch their business ventures to potential investors in the alternative financing space, such as venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) firms, ECF and P2P financing platforms.

GROWMatch harnesses ecosystem partnerships to connect food-security aligned businesses in need of funds with opportunities to access risk-capital through alternative financing. Through our GROWMatch partners, we bring together diverse expertise to develop, incubate, groom and provide financing opportunities that help businesses grow.

This year’s GROWMatch themed is “Tackling Industry Challenges to Strengthen Malaysia’s Food Security with Alternative Financing". It aims to achieve the following:

Enhance applicants’ knowledge and understanding of navigating the alternative finance landscape to support their business growth.
Discover and spotlight innovative agri-MSMES, particularly those driving impact within the Malaysian agriculture and food security sectors.
Showcase high potential Malaysian based agri-MSME to the wider alternative financing ecosystem

We invite all entrepreneurs and MSMEs within the agriculture value chain, including those in foodtech, agtech, biotech and bio-based businesses.
